Regional specialities, traditional crafts and a varied programme of music: on 29 August 2026, the Paznaun Market Day will transform the Silvretta car park in Ischgl into a meeting place for connoisseurs, families and music lovers. Paznaun alpine cheese, local crafts and a varied programme of events will ensure an atmospheric start to the Paznaun autumn.
On Saturday 29 August 2026, Ischgl will showcase its delightful and traditional side. From 10.30 am, the Paznaun Market Day, organised by the Ischgl Brass Band, welcomes locals and visitors to the Silvretta car park. The focus is on the valley’s culinary treasures: ten alpine pastures and three valley dairies will be showcasing their cheese creations, regional producers will be offering local specialities, and craftspeople will be providing an insight into their diverse work.
Entry to the marquee is free until 3.00 pm. From 3.00 pm onwards, admission is 10 euros. Children and young people up to and including the age of 16 have free entry all day.
A festive start with the cutting of the cheese and the tapping of the beer barrel
Market day begins at 10.30 am with the arrival of the marching bands. Setting off from the Paznaun–Ischgl Tourist Board information office, the musicians march along Ischgl’s main street to the festival grounds.
At 11.00 am, the guests of honour will officially open the market day. The regional specialities will be showcased in style during the traditional cheese-cutting and beer-tapping ceremonies. Another highlight of the ceremony is the election of the 2026 Cheese Queen.
Brass band music from morning till night
Several guest bands and ensembles will provide the musical entertainment. At 11.30 am, the Auffach Brass Band will open the musical programme with a morning concert. This will be followed at 1.30 pm by the Gries am Brenner Music Society, before the Freudenberg Brass Band from the Swiss canton of Aargau takes to the stage at 2.30 pm.
From 3.30 pm, “VIELTOLMUSIG” will be providing lively entertainment in the marquee. “MUCKASÄCK” will bring the evening to a rousing close from 8.30 pm: the party band from the Allgäu will be bringing a lively, festive atmosphere to Ischgl.
Cooking demonstration with Martin Sieberer
The culinary highlight of the afternoon is the cooking demonstration with top chef Martin Sieberer at 3.00 pm. The multi-award-winning chef will demonstrate live how high-quality regional ingredients can be prepared in creative and contemporary ways. The cooking demonstration thus combines the culinary traditions of the Paznaun with modern culinary art.
Games, fun and climbing adventures for children
There is also a varied programme on offer for younger visitors. From 11.00 am, the Erlebnis Club Paznaun is organising children’s entertainment with games and fun. At the Ischgl Mountain Rescue Service’s climbing tower, children can put their skills and courage to the test under expert supervision.
The Paznaun Market Day offers an authentic insight into the valley’s culinary, artisanal and musical diversity. As a meeting place for connoisseurs, families, music lovers and enthusiasts of regional traditions, the festival also marks an atmospheric start to autumn in the Paznaun. As part of the Golden Summits, the autumn programme of events in the weeks that follow combines culture, sport, nature experiences and culinary delights against the impressive mountain backdrop of the Paznaun.
