One day, four routes and countless impressions: On 23 August 2025, Galtür invites you to the 52nd Silvretta Ferwall March - a hiking event that combines exercise, nature and community in a unique way. The focus is not on the competition, but on the shared experience in the Alpine landscape.
On 23 August 2025, it's that time again: the Silvretta Ferwall March enters the next round in Galtür. For the 52nd time, the picturesque Tyrolean mountain village will be the meeting point for hiking enthusiasts from near and far. What began as a local hiking meeting has long since developed into an international event - characterised by a sense of community, closeness to nature and the personal aspiration to take oneself to new heights.
Four routes - one common goal
Whether passionate mountain sports enthusiasts, leisurely hikers or families with children - the Silvretta Ferwall Marsch has something for everyone. There are four routes of varying difficulty to choose from, all of which lead through the impressive Alpine landscape between the Silvretta and Verwall groups. At 42.2 kilometres and 1,779 metres in altitude difference, the marathon route is the supreme discipline and rewards its conquerors with a certificate of honour. Those who opt for the shorter Ferwall route will also experience high alpine passages in challenging terrain. The Silvretta route is ideal for beginners, while the 13.5-kilometre family route - including a treasure hunt for children - is also suitable for the little ones.
No stopwatch, no competition - just you and the mountains
Unlike traditional sporting events, the Silvretta Ferwall Marsch does not focus on performance, but on experiencing nature. Everyone marches at their own pace, without any pressure - and is rewarded at the finish with a medal in bronze, silver, gold or with an award of honour, depending on the route chosen. The start is from 6 a.m., depending on the route until 11 a.m. at the latest.
All-round care - with Alpine hospitality
The day in Galtür offers far more than just beautiful views: Regional specialities at several refreshment stations, a high-quality functional shirt and a water bottle for all participants, photo points along the routes, a colourful children's programme with a face painting station and attractive prizes in the raffle round off the event experience. Musical entertainment will be provided in the sports and cultural centre from 1 pm. Food and drinks will also be available there. The award ceremony will take place at 6 pm in the ballroom.
