Experienced climbers who want to elevate their sporting experience to the next level should try sports climbing. The area surrounding Galtür boasts many interesting routes along which you can explore the Tyrolean mountains. You could even tackle one of the impressive 3,000-metre summits of the Silvretta and Verwall mountains!

Top-class area for sports climbing in Galtür

Reaching as far as Switzerland

Ambitious Alpine climbers love the area surrounding Jamtalhütte  lodge . The Jamtal valley boasts climbing routes for all skill levels, ranging in difficulty from 2 to 7+. Plus, you can climb up to seven pitches with a length of 100 metres each.

Parts of the sports climbing park at Jamtalhütte lodge, which was renovated in 2021, are also suitable for beginners and children. The Jamtal climbing area consists of two zones, the Jamtal Hüttenblick climbing gardens and the more challenging Jam Block.

If you’re interested in some cross-border climbing, we recommend the route around Heidelberger Hütte lodge in Switzerland.

The climbing area features routes with a difficulty between 2 and 7, located in a south-westerly direction at 2,400 metres above sea level. The best time to go climbing there is from June to October.

The climbing facilities around the Wiesbadener Hütte were set up by the Wiesbaden DAV section with the support of the Galtür and Montafon mountain guides, the Montafon mountain rescue service, the training instructors of the Wiesbaden DAV section and the hut landlord.

There is a new climbing garden in the beautiful alpine landscape above the Menta Alm in the Jamtal valley. The approx. 20 routes are well secured, but still need to be climbed as the rock is not completely solid in some places. Wearing a helmet is recommended.

The family climbing garden is located directly behind the Alpinarium Galtür. Access is via the valley path, from which you can reach the climbing wall via a meadow.
